The granddaddy of all reality shows, Real World, returned to form a few weeks ago. Back to Las Vegas. Back to seven person cast (I was never a fan of the eight person casts that have plagued the RW houses for the past few seasons). At first I was skeptical of this Las Vegas cast, but I mean can you blame me? The first Las Vegas cast was too good to be true. Season 12 of the RV changed the game for the entire franchise. From three ways on the first night to a possible pregnancy and an unlimited amount of conflict. Prior to the first Las Vegas cast one can make a case that The Real World seasons had not only the their fair share of sexual encounters, but they truly had faced very important issues, but after the Las Vegas season, it seems as though casting shifted to more ‘pretty’ faces with less substance which caused to show to get quite stale.
Back to Las Vegas seems poised to pick up where the last Las Vegas cast left off. Already we have seen quite the bit of drama between cast members Leroy aka Roy Lee and stereotypical Northeast Bostonian douche bag Adam, several hookups and a close call eviction with Adam. My darkhorse for the season is Mike, who pretty much took over Frank’s role as the good ol’ boy. Mike is definitely not as smooth with the ladies as his other roommates, but he’s not afraid to stand up for himself and his beliefs, which could get him into trouble as the season progresses. If for nothing, it will at least make this season of The Real World bearable.
